Words associated with Thanksgiving include turkey, gravy, pumpkin pie, harvest, grateful, family and parade. History adds Mayflower, Plymouth, Wampanoag and Massasoit, and autumn brings acorn, maple and foliage. The puzzles on this page use all of these words, from short ones for young kids to long ones for adults.
Each puzzle prints its word list beside the grid. The bookmarks use short words such as turkey, gravy, pie and acorn. The easy pages have eight words, the medium pages twelve, from cornucopia to whipped cream, and the hard pages eighteen, from Mayflower and Wampanoag to marching band.
Print a stack before the guests arrive and leave them with a cup of pencils on the kids' table. Each puzzle is a free PDF for US Letter (8.5 by 11 inches) or A4 (210 by 297 mm). Print at 100% so the letters stay large and easy to circle.
The three easy puzzles use a 10 by 10 grid with eight words across and down only. Thanksgiving Dinner, Fall Leaves and Family Day suit children from about age 6. Teachers can use them as a warm-up the week before the break, and the bookmarks are just as easy.
The three hard puzzles use a 16 by 16 grid with eighteen words hidden in every direction, backwards too. Thanksgiving History, Autumn Words and Parade and Football suit older kids and adults. The medium pages sit in between, with a 13 by 13 grid and diagonals for ages 8 to 11.
Page 2 of every full-page PDF is the answer key, with each word shaded where it hides. Print page 1 only if you want to keep the answers for yourself. The two bookmark sheets put their answer keys on pages 3 and 4 of the bookmark file.

Easy puzzles (10 by 10, across and down) work from about age 6, when children can read short words. Medium (13 by 13 with diagonals) suits ages 8 to 11, and hard (16 by 16, every direction) is for older kids and adults.
Every full-page PDF includes an answer key on page 2. Each word is shaded where it hides.
Each puzzle comes as a US Letter PDF (8.5 by 11 inches) and an A4 PDF (210 by 297 mm). Print at 100% so the letters stay large.
The history puzzle holds names and words from the 1621 harvest celebration at Plymouth Colony. Among them are the Mayflower, the Wampanoag and their leader Massasoit, Tisquantum, and Abraham Lincoln's 1863 proclamation that made Thanksgiving a national holiday.
Read the word list first, then hunt for one word at a time in the grid. Look for its first letter and check the letters around it in each allowed direction, then circle the word and tick it off.
The free word search maker on this site turns up to 20 of your words into a puzzle with an answer key. Print it as a full page or as four bookmarks on one sheet.
The puzzles are free for personal and classroom use. Please share a link to this page instead of uploading the PDFs elsewhere.
